Central Cal VBC was formed in 1980 by Jean Ainger, Harriet Huggins and Lydia Cantrel and was originally called the San Joaquin Volleyball club. The trio were leaders in the girls volleyball community. Their collective passion was the beginning of the oldest active volleyball club in the Fresno/Clovis area.
In 1986 the club was renamed the Central Cal Volleyball Club and continued to provide a vehicle to showcase the valley’s talents and to provide the opportunity for our players to be associated with the United State Volleyball Association (USAV) and the (NCVA) Northern California Volleyball Association. The players have the opportunity to train and compete in all competitions authorized and sanctioned by the USAV.
The club has been competitive in the NCVA Power/Premier Travel League at various age levels and has a regularly qualified teams to represent the club at the USA Junior National Championship tournament. In addition to our travel teams the club has a reputation of providing quality volleyball experiences for all age level teams in local tournaments.
Central Cal Volleyball in conjunction with the Clovis Unified Community Recreation department also provides instruction for the Little Spikers and the Little Diggers program for grades 1-5th.
The Central Cal Volleyball Club is dedicated to raising the level of volleyball in the San Joaquin Valley by helping each player reach their full potential as a student athlete. We value the importance of developing an atmosphere that will enable all players to “be the best they can be” in mind, body and spirit.
“Success is peace of mind which is a direct result of self-satisfaction in knowing you made the effort to become the best of which you are capable.” - John Wooden
